Food Access and Nutrition Security Group
The Food Access and Nutrition Security Group studies factors affecting food access, nutrition and food security, and evaluates nutrition education programs like EFNEP and SNAP-Ed.
The goal of the Food Access and Health Disparities Group is to broaden understanding of social and environmental factors, policies, and systems that contribute to food access, food and nutrition security, and health, particularly for individuals and communities. The group also evaluates public health nutrition education programs, especially the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP), the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed) through Virginia Cooperative Extension.
