Program Focus

The Craige Lab is interested in the immediate responses to exercise, and how the various cells within a tissue communicate to coordinate the appropriate response to the exercise / stress stimulus. We are interested in the biochemical signaling that occurs between endothelial cells and myocytes in skeletal muscle during exercise and during the recovery phase. Our work includes rodent-based studies, protein and nucleic acid extraction and subsequent analysis by qPCR and western blotting.  We also use a variety of cultured cells to help elucidate the molecular intercellular communication between endothelial cells and myocytes in response to stress stimuli.  

As the Laboratory Manager / Research Associate for Dr. Craige, I assist our students in their work, ensure that materials and reagents are available, and manage our mouse colony.  I assist in preparing research proposals and manuscripts for publication.  I establish working experimental protocols and also compose and obtain regulatory permissions for the lab. I also complete specific research projects pertinent to the lab’s overall research goals.
